ABOUT

I am inspired by the world around me and with my work, I aim to create intimate lyrical presences by situating myself in areas of urgent political confrontation. By sharing my discoveries in these complex fields, I  form extended discussions about the notion of defence and safety. By using art as a tool for facilitating dialogue, I establish unusual collaborations with the biggest institutions of society. My aspiration with these difficult partnerships, are to form critiques that happen firstly within the structures they are addressing and secondly to the general public.

As Peter & the Danish Defence, I have written two music albums in collaboration with the Danish Armed Forces and its soldiers that is available on Spotify and iTunes. My third album – THE ANTI-TERROR RECORD – is released January 2020 and is written as a response to a bizarre terror exercise they have given me access to. Previously, I have been an activist in the Russian artist group VOINA and during my undergraduate, I tried to become a police officer in The Metropolitan Police as the basis for writing poems.

Besides collaborating with an army, my growing list of collaborators include solo shows at the Museum for Contemporary Art [DK],  at Galerie Wedding [DE], Kunsthall 3.14 [NO] and Overgaden Institute for Contemporary Art [DK] and played concerts at The National Gallery [DK], Code Art Fair [DK]. The most interesting concert I ever played, was an acoustic live-set in Holmens Church at an army veteran gathering, where I sang the song ‘Private Wars’ to a church full of generals, politicians and veteran soldiers from the Danish wars.

Thank you,

Peter
